4th Grade Art
Concentric Leaf Paintings
The students will learn how we all benefit from Nature's bounty. How it both comforts and inspires us. They will discuss how artists of many cultures have used the theme of nature in their artworks since the beginning of time and how they have reminded us of its beauty and power. Students will also observe how many artists use materials they find in nature to create their works of art.
The 4th grade will discuss how emphasis is used to create a center of interest in works of art. They will be shown art reproductions and asked to point out the center of interest and what technique the artist used to emphasize that area.
Finally, the students will make a preliminary sketch of a leaf. They will transfer their drawing to a larger sheet of paper. Then, applying one or more of the techniques discussed, the students will create an artwork with a center of interest.
